The Modded Server has been updated.
I've finally finished the first full mod-pack and its being labeled as "CritPack 1.0". Full listing of mods can be found on the link on the right-side bar.
Click Here to download the 3 files for the new modpack.
Then check out the new installation video to help you get thru the process of adding these files to your MultiMC.
To install, you'll want to open up MultiMC and create a new instance. Give it a name, set the Minecraft version to 1.7.10. Then hit 'edit instance', then on the right side, click on "Install Forge". Go down and choose version 10.13.4.1448 of Forge. It will install some files and after a minute or two, will take you back to the 'Edit Instance' screen. Click on 'close'.
Next, click on 'Instance Folder' menu option to open a new window and double-click on Minecraft folder. Inside that folder, you'll want to put the 3 folders that you downloaded and replace whatever is there. Once the file transfer is complete, you can go back to the MultiMC window and click on 'Edit Instance'. Here you'll just want to double check that all the Loader mods are selected, the resource pack is picked, and the Java settings work.
Then you should be ready to go.

Vanilla+ update #2
So.....server working great but just wanted to tweak a couple things. I added the server to our IRC channel. So now from the game, you can chat with people that are in the IRC channel, either thru a pc or smart phone. Small but fun feature that was added.
Also, I did update the config for NEI (Not Enough Items). There's a conflict with another mod currently in the pack, so if you just go into MultiMC, highlight the game instance, then click the 'Edit Instance' option, you'll see a popup window of options and menus on the left. Click on the "Loader Mods' tab on the left and scroll down the list of mods. Make sure the checkbox for "WAILA-features" is UNCHECKED. Once you do this and launch the game, NEI will work perfectly again.
On a side note, Vanilla+2 pack is pretty much complete. As of now, it looks to be an add-on to the existing server. Meaning that we'll be adding on mods to the existing world, so people don't lose the stuff they've already built up and created.
Will host a Q&A on TeamSpeak this week, for more information.

Vanilla+ update
In talking with the few people currently playing on the Vanilla+ server, I've uploaded an update that should definitely help.
Updated:
Go into you instance folder in MultiMC, get to your config folder and delete everything inside of that folder. Keep the actual 'config' folder there but make it empty inside. Then go to your "mod" folder and delete the folder and everything in it. Download the new "Mod" folder zip file from the right-side bar and put it where the old Mod folder was.
Then launch the game and you should be good to go.
When you get to the title screen for Minecraft, goto your Options first and into the Video options menu. You should see a ton of extra settings for your video. Here you'll be able to tweak some of the smaller video/effect features in Minecraft, so that you can get better FPS (frames per second) while playing.
Any questions, contact me on TeamSpeak.
Updated:
- Finer video settings to help all players increase performance and get a smoother gameplay experience
- Radar settings adjustments to fix missing players/mobs/animals
- Minimap update for faster performance

And..........we're up!
Vanilla+ is up and running!
If you haven't heard, we'll be rolling out the modded server in at least 3 stages and each stage should last about 2-6 weeks. During each stage, I'll be personally working with everyone, to see how the pack runs for you while playing and doing what we can to maximize performance.
To download the Vanilla+ mod pack, click on the links on the right side, for the "Mod" and "Config" folders.

- Stage 1 (Vanilla+) - Small mod pack to enhance the normal vanilla Minecraft experience. Some of this includes adding in-game radar, health meter on animals/mobs and added landscapes/biomes. This also includes some experimental configurations for weapons and tools. In a nutshell, all vanilla tools/weapons are disabled in this pack and the Tinkerer's items take over.
- State 2 (Vanilla+2) - Medium mod pack that will build on the first pack. Likely adding in ThaumCraft, BiblioCraft and some tech mods. With the added weapons, armors and items, we'll likely re-enable vanilla tools and weapons.
- Stage 3 ('unnamed') - Full mod pack that includes pretty much everything we need to really have some fun. Tons of magic, technology, food and things to explore.
This shows a pretty good listing of things that will be added, per stage. (Mod list)

Mod prepping - pt 2
So we've been talking about getting the Modded server up and running soon. Trying to take into account the ability to keep the game kinda balanced, giving everyone a ton of things to do in the game, while also keeping it fun for hardcore and relaxed players.
So from some questioning and feedback from people, I came up with a list of all mods mentioned and then will color code them for everyone to see and discuss.
(Green = definite, Blue = likely/maybe, Orange = in testing, Black = just mentioned)

Mod prepping
To get you guys prep'd for playing Minecraft with mods, you should download a small piece of software called MultiMC. (http://multimc.org/).
In a nutshell, its a software that lets you organize and launch Minecraft in all the ways that you play it. So you can setup an Instance of Minecraft, based on the server you're playing on.
For example: You can setup an instance with any profile name you want, then set it up to launch Minecraft using version 1.7.10 and then add the mods and config files that matches the server you want to connect to. And since each instance is separate, you can launch modded and vanilla Minecraft from this one software.

(screenshot of what my MultiMC screen looks like).
This way I can just open MultiMC and then double click on the Instance of Minecraft that I want to play. Each can be customized to play any version of Minecraft available, along with mods added to each separate instance, since Forge and LiteLoader are both supported and can be installed to an instance.
So to prep you guys for doing modded Minecraft later, setup the software real quick. Only takes a minute to download it (about 13MB) and to install it. Once installed, double-click the desktop icon and you'll get to a screen like the one I posted above, except there won't be any instances. Click on 'create instance'.
Name the instance "FreaksGaming", leave the group as blank, then keep the Vanilla Minecraft button selected and keep the version as "1.8.6".
Click ok and you'll have a new Instance of just plain Vanilla Minecraft, running version 1.8.6. Then from now on, anytime you want to join our Vanilla server, just open up MultiMC and double click the instance. You will have to add the server IP address again, but only for the first time that you run the instance.
Any questions, feel free to ask me in-game or on TeamSpeak. I'll be more than happy to walk you thru.

Server is Up!
Thanks to Osota, we now have a Vanilla server to play on.
We'll be taking the first 2 weeks, to get used to each other on the server. Many of us come from different groups and different playing styles, so this will give us time to mesh and work on teamwork.
So to start off, the spawn area is set inside a rocky cove and are asking that everyone stay inside that area. You'll likely start in or on the spawn tower. When you climb down to the ground, there's a small stone path that goes to the left, so you can read the small rules and get armed with a wooden sword. From there, you can go out on your own. We only ask that you stay within a 500 block radius of the spawn. (Hit F3, to see your coordinates and stay within +/- 500 blocks).
We also have a TeamSpeak server setup so that you can chat with people while you play on the Minecraft server. It's a small program that you can download and install for free. Within the next couple of days, I'll create a simple install guide for TeamSpeak software.

Faction Server
Hey guys,
Sorry for taking so long to give an update. We're still sorting out some stuff with getting our own server running. So in the meantime, we've been hanging out on a public Factions server. Not sure if you've heard about LanceyPooh but he's a pretty popular YouTuber that just opened up his own server.
So me and my son are playing here for now, just to have fun and get a feel for how factions work. Plus maybe make a couple friends along the way.
It's a public server so feel free to join us and we'll get you invited to the faction with us. Launch your Minecraft game, click on 'multiplayer', then click on 'Add Server'. Then just enter the same information that I have in the image below.
Feel free to reach out to Gabemeister08 or Gabegonzo when you join, so we can get you added.
Hope to see you guys soon.

FreaksGaming Server update
Hey guys,
I've been working with another group of Minecraft players and have listed the mods we will likely be using in our first launch of the FreaksGaming Minecraft server.
Take a look at the list below or view a copy of the shared spreadsheet listing. Keep in mind that the shared spreadsheet has 2 tabs at the bottom. The one listed as SP4 will be the one likely to be installed at first launch, as it is using 1.7.10 of Minecraft, which is newer than what was used to make the SP3.2 mod pack list.

IRC Information
IRC is one of the best ways to chat online with friends. It was developed before many of the other instant messaging systems and can run on almost any platform.
So I've setup an IRC channel specifically for Freaks Gaming group, so that it'll be easier to communicate with everyone.
Easiest way to do it, is to just open up a web browser and put in this link.
http://webchat.esper.net/?..&channels=freaksgaming
This will send you to the web-chat window for the group. Just create a nickname for yourself and connect to the chat room. Please try to make your Nickname as close to your gaming username as possible. That way it'll be easier to figure out who's who, when just chatting or when you're in the game. And make sure that your name is "appropriate" for people of all ages to see, as this is still technically a public channel.
This chat room will eventually tie into the in-game chat in Minecraft. Meaning, that if i'm in the game, I can see and chat with all of the people that are only in the IRC channel, and vice versa. This way you can talk back and forth with people in Minecraft even if you're not physically playing.
You can also install a small piece of software on your PC, laptop, tablet and smart phone, that will also allow you to connect to the IRC channel, if you want to get a little more fancy than just the standard web-chat browser.
Any questions? Jump into the IRC channel and ask anything you want.
See you soon.
